WELCOME TO ST. MARY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

The St. Mary Chamber of Commerce is an organization that focuses on the development of the parish as it relates to events that are geared towards the overall well-being of citizens and parish as a whole.

The calendar of Events elaborates the ideas and vision of the Chamber of Commerce. I was present at one of the Luncheons on April 16, 08 at the parish Civic Center, in capital town of Port Maria. A long list of the parishes outstanding individuals were present, including the custos Sir. Bobby Pottinger, whom was called upon to give greeting to the gathering.

Mr. Pottinger commented that the Hon. Sir Bustamante onced work in St. Mary and was actually tried in this very same Civic Center, which was a Court House at the time. The accused Bustamanted was acquitted of the charges against him for defending the rights of the impoverished who were treated in an ignorable and inhuman manner.

The spaeker took stage and highlighted a number of forthcoming initiatives that the chamber has on its agenda for the uplifting of the parish. The following are a few of the numerous ideas that were discussed:

• Establishing an office for the Chamber at the Civic Center.
• Constructing Public Sanitary facilities in the town and other areas.
• Establishing a Fire Museum at the Old Fire Station in the town.
• The construction of a walk way behind the Library, for the viewing of the Ocean.
• Daily or weekly shows in the park to highlight the Heritage of the parish (Craft Centers, etc.)
• Beautification of the Civic Center and the surrounding areas.
• The scheduling of environmental work
